62. April 5th, 2011 Picture.

Since Ratty is a big wig, we're always getting invited to events for various organizations and charities, most of which you've read about on here.  April 5th was a Tuesday night and we were headed to the Bostonians for Youth fundraiser - Ratty works with a PR consultant who had bought a table, so we were invited to sit with him and fellow clients.

Bostonians for Youth is an organization that encourages awareness and action around violence prevention and safe communities for Boston's youth.  The event was MC'd by a local news anchor and featured a keynote address from the Governor.

There were lighthearted aspects to the program, a dance performance by Thee Slap Bracelets, who had actually won the New England Urban Dance Competition the night before, but there were also really sad moments, that reflected the violence that has plagued some inner city neighborhoods for years.  They showed a short film that interviewed 3 different families, who had lost children to street violence, each of whom were trying to help or were just caught in the middle by accident.  It was absolutely heart breaking to watch.  I might have cried.  Thankfully there was wine, which may or may not have helped.

It was a really great event for a really great cause.  I read on their website that they raised over $400,000, which is uber impressive!
